But Barbra doesn't stop there, she also covers fitness, ethics, personal spirituality, health and well being, and other topics that make a day to day difference in the everyday business of living!
Authors, congressmen and Federal Reserve Board members have been guests during our 10 years on the air.
The Audience
MoneyDots guests provide listeners with intelligent discussions that include just enough whimsy to soften the harder information presented. Listeners seek out MoneyDots for the information, ideas, and stories, and appreciate not being lectured along the way.
Barbra Alexander's listeners, represent a targeted audience that falls into two major categories:
- Mature people aged 35-60 who have already achieved success and are looking for resources that will enhance their lives.
- Younger People just starting their careers who are looking for resources that will help them on the path to that success.
MoneyDots™ is affiliated with Business TalkRadio Network™ which hosts MoneyDots™ in several cities of the top-20 market. The roster of stations is at 34 and still growing.
MoneyDots™ holds the highest market share on Saturdays in its flagship station market.
Show Branding
MoneyDots™ enjoys strong branding and was one of the early adopters of the branding concept. Barbra Alexander makes sure to return regularly to the key themes that define the brand and actively seeks out guests who fit these themes:
- Providing personal resources for living a better life
- Understanding that finances aren’t just about money.
- Seeking the true cost of a service, commodotity, or life choice.
The show mascot Radio Ducky(sm) plays a key role in the MoneyDots™ branding. MoneyDots™ listeners appreciate the whimsy Radio Ducky(sm) adds to the show, and are able to connect with this playful sidekick. Listeners even send Radio Ducky(sm) letters and emails, and Radio Ducky(sm) draws his own crowd while making public appearance with Barbra Alexander.
The Host
Blessed with an eclectic curiosity, I delve into everything from the spare change in
your pocket to the efficiency (or lack of it) with which you tackle your everyday problems. My intention is to remind listeners that money, per se, is not what causes difficulty, but the issues surrounding it. The whole is merely the reflection of what each of us has built, the people we associate with and the decisions we’ve made.
As host of this show, I approach every topic in a witty, irreverent manner designed to make you think. Be it developing your company culture, retrieving sunken treasure, trademark infringement, herding ostriches or buying land at tax sales, my style is clear, comfortable and colorful, cutting across all political and social lines. The result is that the audience feels an immediate bond with me and responds well to both guests and advertisers. They continue to listen because they always receive useful information, get some help in facing their fears and find a few cheers on their road to success. There are many forces affecting our lives, and my philosophy is that everything has a cost and often the least expensive is money. It is important
to me that listeners understand the impact that corporate, governmental, religious and social rules have on them. I want them to get off the couch and wrest back control of their lives. From the show’s inception, I have attempted to avoid the pitfalls of trying to be the expert on everything. By interviewing only the best people and letting them answer the questions, I create listener excitement. People often want to find out who will be on next. They tell me they set their alarm clocks in order not to miss a single show.
